Research In Motion is reportedly exploring the possibility to sell their assets, BlackBerry, to a number of smart mobile phone vendors. One of the strongest is Samsung.

As reported by technology website Boy Genius Report, Wednesday, January 17, 2012, a company based in Waterlo, Canada, is currently in talks to sell the BlackBerry software licensing to other vendors.

Citing a source familiar with the negotiations process, RIM probably prefer the option to sell a division of their business rather than selling the entire company. Still according to these sources, Samsung is reportedly interested in the RIM offer.

One of the biggest assets of RIM is the BlackBerry Messenger. This feature will be the differentiator Samsung smart phone with other phones in the Android ecosystem. This is similar to the HTC step that acquires the audio features of the Dr. Beats. Dre.

Co CEO of RIM, Jim Balsillie, reportedly active in meeting with a number of companies who are interested, either in part or whole of the assets of RIM.

For this plan, RIM reportedly filed a figure of U.S. $ 12-15 billion, or about $ 22.90 to 28.60 per share.

Respond to this report, Samsung said it was not interested in conducting direct purchase Research In Motion. However, in a statement, as quoted by Reuters, Samsung does not explain the possibility that the Korean company was buying RIM's software or buy some assets of RIM.
